RobinvaleThe town of Robinvale is located between the large centres of Mildura and Swan Hill, and is situated on a peninsula of land surrounded on three sides by the Murray River, making it an attractive holiday spot. The township of Robinvale was founded in October 1924 when advertisements for a land sale appeared. The town is surrounded by irrigated fruit and vegetable farms as well as a number of wineries, including McWilliams and Robinvale Wineries. Development of the town was slow until soldier settlement in 1947. From the slow beginning's Robinvale township is growing rapidly. Having a diverse multi cultural population approaching 8000 inhabitants and the seasonal population adds to the growth of this modern town. Robinvale is an attractive and well-laid out, with wide streets and colourful gardens. The Murray River offers great water sports activities and a number of points of interest for visitors close to the town. These include the Euston Weir and Lock 15, plus various picnic spots, walking tracks and scenic viewing spots along the river. Other attractions in Robinvale include the historic Robinswood Homestead, a huge windmill at the northern entrance to town which is claimed to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Rural Life Museum, located opposite the visitor information centre.
